This third and final installment to his KIKI Series rounds out singer and actor Kimo Camat's concert trilogy about finding himself and finding his voice. In Lovesongs & Heartbreak we heard about first loves and trauma. In Sexy Sweaty Summer Lovin we heard about loving our bodies and embracing our urges. Swan Songs and Awkward Hand Holding is about fresh beginnings, how we heal, and new connections. A show about changing seasons. A show about finding light in the dark. The KIKI Series is known to be a hilarious, rockin, and heartfelt evening in which the audience can expect powerful, sonic vocals and poignant spoken word pieces. With a unique mixture of retro pop, funk, and a dash of musical theatre, Kimo and his band are going to bring the house down! 

What does healing and starting over look like to you? Some people cry about the change, some people lash out, some take a second to breathe before they take their next step. When an ending comes, we are stuck at a crossroad - where do we go from here? At that moment, take the leap and trust that you are got! Starting anew can be scary but within the unknown are limitless possibilities. 

This show falls on the midpoint between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. Change is upon us and we’re celebrating all the changes we’ve gone through this year and those that are yet to come. Celebrating all of the unexpressed love we have yet to give. Let’s celebrate you, your friends, your loved ones, and everyone who has helped lift you up to get you to today!

Meet the team

Kimo Camat

Kimo Camat is thrilled you can make it “Part 3” of this KIKI series. Kimo is a Portland born performer who studied Drama & Theatre at University of Portland. Drawing inspiration from genres ranging from classic soul, neo funk, and a dash of musical theatre, Kimo credits his love of music to Sam Cooke and Roberta Flack.

Having performed on stages all across the west coast for the past 16 years, Kimo has developed a true love of story telling through various mediums - his favorite being through song.

Kimo is the recipient of the 2023 Regional Arts and Culture Council ArtsC3 Grant* for Kiki’s Delivery Service of Love Songs and Heartbreak. Both shows are labors of love about finding love, loving our little meat fleshes, and about understanding what self love is.

He urges you to sing along, to laugh, to cry, to cheer just whatever it is, do it in kindness and with love.

Mak Kastelic

While in the city, Mak plays a keyboardist, teacher, and music director with a lengthy career bringing live musical productions to Portland stages. A devoted follower of inspiration and inner essence, Mak has wandered through a variety of genres and collaborative settings in the search of musical truths.

Whether it’s hard psych rock or golden-age musical theater, Mak will likely be interested in your project. Outside of the city, Mak enjoys forest getaways where he plays and sings to passing elk herds in an effort to expose them the delights of human music. So far, they don’t like it. Enjoy this fabulous evening of love and heartbreak! 

Joseph Mamarella

Guitarist Joseph Mammarella's music is heavily influenced by fusion greats like the Tony Williams Lifetime, Chick Corea, and Steps Ahead. He pays homage to the past legends while creating music for the future with captivating grooves and powerful solos. His debut album "Unleashed" features five of his original compositions.

Joseph was born in Ontario, Canada, and grew up just outside of Portland, Oregon. The son of a classical pianist, he was introduced to music at a young age and quickly took to the guitar.

At Portland State University, Joseph studied under jazz greats George Colligan and Darrell Grant. He learned advanced techniques for composition and improvisation, and earned a Bachelor of Music in 2019.

Joseph has played with groups in all genres, from funk to metal to straight-ahead jazz. During the pandemic, Joseph refined his unique and eclectic sound through livestream and outdoor concerts.

Juliet Terrill

Juliet Terrill, a prominent bass player, first made her mark in the music scene as a key member of The Suffers, an American soul, funk, and R&B sensation hailing from Houston, Texas.

Now, Juliet has embarked on a new musical journey in the vibrant city of Portland. She's taken the reins as the frontwoman and creative force behind "Juliet and The East," an exciting musical project that embodies her prowess as a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. With her passion for creating soulful and innovative music, Juliet Terrill continues to captivate audiences with her unique blend of artistry in the Pacific Northwest's thriving music scene.

Paul Van Sickle

Paul started hitting pots and pans with wooden spoons at age 2 and never looked back, playing in various bands and for studio sessions since he was a teenager. He was a 2023 BroadwayWorld Award nominee, along with Mak Kastelic, for Best Orchestra Performance for the original musical The Pursuit of Happiness with Fuse Theatre. He enjoys collaborating on various music projects with his wife, Kristin Van Sickle, most recently for the February 2023 production of Songs for a New World. Paul has enjoyed drumming for other musicals over the last several years including 13, The Addams Family, Newsies, Seussical, and 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Up next, Paul will be playing for Lizzie: The Musical at Chapel Theatre September 20th - 29th.

When not playing drums Paul is an audio engineer, social media marketer and DJ for weddings and events through VanS Entertainment. He and Kristin have 2 children, Emery and Cohen, and two cats, Kiani and Ana.

Peter QB

Peter QB is a jazz musician based in Portland, Oregon. He gigs and hosts jam sessions around towns, teaches music lessons on a variety of instruments, and composes original music for his group. His latest project for jazz quintet called Sci-Fi is availble for sale on this site or can be streamed on all platforms. When he isn't ears deep in the music, PQB designs sneakers for a small Italian shoe company, works in his grandfathers woodshop and explores Oregon with his life partner G Blues. www.peterqb.com

Christina Avellan Mantilla

Christina Avellán Mantilla hails from New Jersey, where she started her singing career on children’s musical theater stages as a way to overcome her shyness. She went on to train classically, receiving instruction from Amy Shoremont-Obra before attending Yale University. As an undergraduate, Christina studied vocal performance at the Yale School of Music while double majoring in Sociology and Psychology. She sang in the New Blue a cappella group and traveled the world with the Yale Glee Club. She performed in a range of musical theater and operatic productions, most notably as a lead soprano for the Yale Gilbert and Sullivan Society.

 While pursuing different professional passions, Christina has continued to perform in a range of ways, from singing with an Brooklyn-based electro-jazz band to doing stand up comedy. Since moving to Portland in 2016, she joined B-Side Book Club, a PDX a cappella group, where she met and fell in love with Kimo. While the group did not survive COVID19 pandemic, she is excited to be on stage singing again.

Maddie Tran

Madeleine is a Vietnamese-American soprano, actor, fight choreographer, and occasional street and festival performer. She was born in Tacoma, WA but studied classical voice at the University of Portland under Dr. Nicole Hanig. Madeleine also studies and teaches stage combat under the mentorship of Kristen Mun. She has performed locally with many companies, including Artist's Repertory Theater, Third Rail Repertory, Portland Center Stage, Shaking The Tree, Portland Opera, and Renegade Opera.

Eddie May

Eddie May was cast in his first musical at the age of 5 and became deeply involved in the Tacoma Musical theatre scene for many years. He starred in productions at Tacoma Little Theatre, Missoula Children’s Theatre, Tacoma Musical Playhouse, Encore Theatre Company, and Paradise Theatre. As a true Gemini with many passions, Eddie turned his focus from theatre to mental health, earning his Bachelor’s in Family and Human Services and Women and Gender Studies from the University of Oregon while singing with the University of Oregon Singers and the UO Gospel Choir. After attaining his Master’s in Social Work from Tulane University, he moved back to Oregon in 2010 and quickly found himself joining the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus. PGMC and its incredible community has offered Eddie reconnection with his love of music, dance, and theatre while advancing his activism for social justice and equity. He has been a singing member, dancer and soloist with PGMC since 2010, has performed locally for corporate and non-profit benefits, as well as with Cabaret White. Outside of performing, he is an LCSW and Associate Professor of Practice in the Masters of Social Work program at Portland State University.
